The Black Future Is In Our Hands

  • The K Culture Creator Center

Developed with the intent to calibrate the hustling spirit of West Side communities towards owning and operating more businesses (including brick and mortar establishments along the Madison and Pulaski corridors), The K provides entrepreneur-focused programming, private and shared workspace, a cafe, and rotating retail so that residents can self-determine the Black Future they want to see in their neighborhoods.

  • The Westgate

The Westgate aims to catalyze the east bookend of the Madison-Pulaski shopping district with a design and retail programming centered in the spirit of Black Futurism. Plans call for 55 affordable units, sit-down restaurant, and a full-service grocer to replace the Aldi that formerly sat at the location. The project seeks to empower existing residents through the offering of ownership shares in the grocery building via an emerging “Community Investment Vehicle” (CIV).

  • HUB32

The first of a series of transformational developments around the Lake & Kedzie CTA Green Line Station, HUB32 will be the central node of a walkable community complete with housing that legacy residents can afford, as well as restaurants, shops, and open public space. With a design inspired by Southern patchwork quilts sewn by Black Women, as well as the classic Chicago courtyard, HUB32 aims to create a new sense of place for long-term residents and newer stakeholders that want to add to the legacy fabric of the East Garfield Park community.
